History

In 1843, eight Presbyterians gathered at a house on Main Street in Spartanburg. After signing a covenant binding them together as a church, they adjourned for preaching and a celebration of the Lord's Supper. This was the beginning of First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg, which was the very first Presbyterian church to open its doors in our town.
