Advent at FPC (December 9, 2021)

Dear Friends,

This Sunday at both sanctuary services we celebrate in words and music the reach of the Christmas story…across generations, countries, and cultures. Beloved and familiar words from the Old and New Testaments will take on new life as they are read in several languages, followed by music that reflects the different countries and cultures these languages represent. If you’re counting, you’ll find Christmas music from eleven different countries, and you’ll hear the premiere of a piece for choir and orchestra by Dr. John Moody that was commissioned by our church. Our Chancel Choir has worked diligently towards this day since September, and they will be joined by a 25-piece orchestra.

A Light for All Nations – Sunday, December 12

On Sunday, December 12 at both sanctuary services, the Chancel Choir, along with the orchestra, will offer musical reflections on the remarkable reach of the Christmas story’s resonance—through multiple generations, countries, and cultures. Highlights included a brand-new piece commissioned by FPC for this service written by Dr. John Moody. The service was inspired by the beloved annual Christmas program at Princeton Seminary, which Holt and Marcia attended while on their sabbatical in 2019.
