Next Week at FPC (July 29, 2022)

Dear Fellow Disciples in Christ,

This Sunday we honor the long ministry of one of Spartanburg’s most faithful church and community leaders, Dr. Benjamin D. Snoddy. This will be a community celebration with people from multiple faith communities and other important leaders in our community in attendance. It will be a time for Spartanburg to be together in ways that do not happen that often. First Presbyterian is honored to be able to host this event, and we hope that much of the First Presbyterian Church family will join in this celebration not only of this great servant of God, but of our unity with those across this city and county. The service will be
livestreamed, but your presence in the room will make a difference to you and to others.

Blessings and peace,
Rev. L. Craig Foster
Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Communications

OTHER NEWS
CAST Update and Request for Help
Sixteen children, representing six families, participated in FPC’s first week of CAST Camp, July 18 -21. Twenty volunteers — eighteen from FPC — led the enrichment activities including art, math, reading, physical fitness, mental fitness, nutrition, problem solving and Bible Study. They also went bowling!

The overall Bible verse for this summer is: Jesus is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). On Thursday Rev. John Daniel DeBevoise, Marcia Andrews and friends led an inspiring worship service in the sanctuary! The congregation is welcome to join our CAST children and their families for worship during our next CAST camp happening on Thursday, August 4 at 9:30AM.

Additionally, there are four CAST families in need of gently used household items and furniture including a king size mattress, twin mattress, end tables, lamps, and other assorted household items (towels, dishes , cutlery, glasses, linens, pillows, etc.). Pickup trucks for delivery, willing hands, and anyone with interest/skills in assembling furniture are also always welcome. Contact Gloria Close (closely@bellsouth.net) for more information or bring small items to her back porch (685 Otis Blvd.) beginning Monday, Aug 1.

Thank you FPC for offering hope and support for these fellow children of God.
