Next Week at FPC (June 10, 2022)
Dear Church Family,
This Sunday we begin our Summer Worship Schedule, so be sure to check the times below carefully so that you won’t be late or early for the service you plan to attend. This Sunday we also welcome our new (soon to be ordained) Associate Pastor for Youth and Campus Ministry, John Daniel DeBevoise with a reception in the Social Hall after our two 10:30am services. John Daniel will be assisting with the liturgy in the Sanctuary, so come to Sunday School and Worship, and welcome him!
Since our two streamed services happen simultaneously, please note that, as in past years, we will stream different services on different platforms. Both services will continue to be streamed on the church website at FPCSpartanburg.org/worship. The Sanctuary service will also be streamed on Facebook, while MorningSong will be streamed on YouTube.
Peace,
Craig Foster
Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Communications

NEXT WEEK
Summer Sermon Series
Join us for a sermon series as we explore the stories of the earliest Christians and consider what they can teach us about being and becoming the church for our world today. From the birth of the church at Pentecost to missionary journeys to the edge of the known world, these first followers of the Way - led by the Spirit - show us the marks of faithful Christian community: generosity, touch, leadership, joy, vision, openness, risk, and courage. Join us during the months of June and July as we explore these stories and consider how God is calling us to become the church anew for one another and for the world around us.
Reception for John Daniel DeBevoise
This Sunday, we will officially welcome John Daniel DeBevoise as our Associate Pastor for Youth and Campus Ministries. There will be a reception in the Social Hall following the 10:30am Worship Services. Come join us for light refreshments, as well as the opportunity to personally welcome John Daniel and his fiancée, Eliza Smith, to our church family.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Ministry Finder
Find all sorts of ways to get involved in serving God and serving others on the church website through Ministry Finder!
Fill the Pantry (And the Trucks) for Hand In Hand – June 26-30
Hand In Hand is a ministry supported by this church that helps provide food, clothing, and basic necessities to families of students in need in Spartanburg County. Due to greater than expected demand, they have recently donated all their supplies. Hand In Hand plans to continue to provide weekly deliveries throughout the summer to these families, and they need our help to restock their pantry! Vacation Bible School will be collecting supplies ALL week (June 27-30) in the Family Life Center lobby, so please bring your items and watch the supply grow! If you are unable to bring them during VBS, you will also have an opportunity to Fill the Trucks on the morning of Sunday, June 26th from 10am-12pm in the top FLC parking lot. Reach out to Pastor Leslie if you have questions!
Habitat for Humanity Volunteers Needed
Put on your hard hat and grab a hammer! Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg is looking for Construction Volunteers! This ministry works hard to provide housing for those with no roof over their heads. The best part? You don’t need any experience to get involved!
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Regular/recurring/retired individuals are welcome!
More information can be found on our website. If you’re interested, contact BJ Camp at Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg: (bj.camp@habitatspartanburg.org)
VBS Volunteers
There’s room on Adventure Island for lots of helpers. Be a part of our fun and pass along the faith by helping for a day or all week in hands-on-ways or behind the scenes!
Here is the volunteer link: Volunteer HERE!
Contact VBS Co-director, Suzy Cole, with your questions or to find your perfect spot to help: suzyboulwarecole@gmail.com. Thanks for being church family to our little ones!
Photographers Needed
We are very thankful to Budge Bean and Landon Hammett for offering their photography skills to our church. However, they cannot be at every event - but perhaps you can help! We are building a list of photographers that we can contact when there is a need. We will reach out to those photographers when we need pictures taken; everyone on the list would be welcome to say yes or no to any event. So… you are not committing to anything! Our hope is to have a big enough pool of photographers that no one will be overtaxed. Please reach out to Craig Foster (cfoster@fpcspartanburg.org) if you are interested.
Mobile Meals Volunteers Needed
Mobile Meals has resumed daily deliveries and needs more volunteers! You can sign-up to participate in a regular route or offer to be a substitute driver when it suits your schedule. If you'd like more information, please contact Vivian Tanner at Mobile Meals (vivian@mobile-meals.org)
Crafters Needed!
Do you knit, crochet, or cross stitch? Would you like to share your gifts and talents with your church family in a meaningful way? The Life Events Committee needs your help! Please contact Scottie Lummus (scottie.stan@gmail.com) or Meg Evatt (m_evatt@hotmail.com) for more details.

Our New Director of Children’s Ministry
On Sunday, August 7, Kara Clark will begin her ministry with us as our new Director of Children’s Ministry. We believe that Kara’s extensive experience shepherding children, ability to build strong relationships with families, and high energy with thoughtful purpose make her uniquely qualified to lead our church in this most important work.
