Next Week at FPC (November 12, 2021)
Dear Friends in Christ,
Today, members of our congregation are busy getting ready for our annual Winter Warmth distribution of new winter coats to children throughout Spartanburg County. Please pray for the children and families who will come to our church to receive new coats, and for the people from our congregation who will help those children find just the right coat for them. Thank you to those who are serving as part of this ministry and to those who have given gloves, scares, or money for coats. For more information about this long tradition within our church, and to give a coat, please visit https://fpcspartanburg.org/serve/local-missions/winter-warmth .

The Peace and Justice Task Force Spotlight: Isaiah 58:6-10
During this month, the Peace & Justice Task Force is focusing on Isaiah 58: 6-10, helping those who have been affected by incarceration, injustice, and poverty. This week’s spotlight is about the injustice suffered by people released from incarceration. There are not enough Reentry Programs in prisons and jail/detention centers. When people are released, they have no idea where to go, to live, to work. Their record follows them forever unless they have it expunged which is a costly, complex process. One solution is to legislate for “clean slate” policies for lower-level criminal records in order to give people a second chance at a life outside of incarceration. You can learn more about second chances by clicking this link and reading this SHJ article.
