UPDATE: Our Church Response to COVID-19
… in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Dear Members of First Presbyterian Church,
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we respond to the ever-evolving situation regarding the COVID-19 virus. In consultation with the Health Committee and other Presbyterian congregations, as well as looking to government agencies for their recommendations, your FPC church staff has decided to discontinue all church events, activities, meetings, and gatherings through the end of March, with TWO exceptions:
- The WeekDay School will continue their usual schedule; they are continually monitoring Spartanburg School District 7 and will be guided by their decisions.
- All Worship Services will proceed on a normal schedule, however we encourage you to worship from home through our Livestream: fpcspartanburg.org/live. Both the 8:45am MorningSong Service and 11am Sanctuary Worship service will be broadcast here, as well as on Facebook (Sunday Schools will not meet).
In South Carolina, we are very fortunate that the virus has not spread rapidly. We pray that these measures, taken by First Presbyterian, will help our community “flatten the curve” and slow the spread of COVID-19.
Once again, your pastors are available for any Pastoral Care needs that may emerge. Please feel free to contact us via email or on the Pastoral Care phone line: 864-208-2142.
Blessings,
Tom
