Weekly Update for June 4, 2021

Hello My Friends!

Summer is here and with it comes our usual summer schedule! The 8:30am service moves to the Chapel, Sunday School follows at 9:30am, and the Sanctuary service and MorningSong run concurrently at 10:30am. At 11:30am this Sunday, congregate with us in the FLC Parking Lot for our first Summer Sizzle of the season – eat dessert first! Yummy ice cream treats are free to all and with the variety available you may even find your childhood favorite. Visit with old friends, make some new acquaintances, watch the children play, and I promise it will all make you smile and laugh!

We welcomed back the Chancel Choir to our Sanctuary Service this past Sunday. It was actually very emotional to see and hear them in the loft. This is the Summer Choir, so if you are interested in some choral singing with minimal practice time required, this may be just the thing for you!

Sunday also affords you the opportunity to bring donations to Fill the Truck for Hand in Hand. We will celebrate Communion in all three services. And in the Social Hall at 9:30am you can hear the results of the Holy Cow Congregational Survey that is helping our Pastor Nominating Committee on the needs and desires of the church for its next Pastor. All in all, it’s a really big Sunday to be at FPC! More details below. I hope to see you!!!!

Happy Summer, y’all!

Pastor Joanne
Associate Pastor for Congregational Care and Deacons

Fill the Truck for Hand in Hand
Drop off between 8:00am and 12:00pm in the Family Life Center Parking Lot
On Sunday, June 6, we will be taking donations of essential items to support Hand in Hand, a ministry that provides necessities to families and children in need throughout Spartanburg County. Let’s “fill the truck” with their suggested items (view here)! Drop off your donations in the Family Life Center Parking Lot from 8:00am-12:00pm.

9:30am Sunday School for All Ages

Congregational Assessment Presentation (Social Hall)
During the Sunday School hour, there will be a presentation in which we explore the recent congregational assessment. Thank you to everyone who participated in that survey! I think you will find the results of that assessment to be insightful and quite helpful as we consider where we are as a church and who God may be calling to lead us as our next pastor. All are invited to join.

9:45am Summer Choir (Choir Room)
Anyone high school age or older who has been fully vaccinated is welcome to be a part of Summer Choir. Come to the Choir Room at 9:45am, and we will take care of the rest...the music is manageable, and there are experienced singers to make your experience fun and comfortable. Questions? Contact Holt Andrews at rhandrews@fpcspartanburg.org.

Summer Sizzle Ice Cream Social – After 10:30am Worship
Eat dessert first at the first Sizzle of the Summer! Enjoy pre-packaged, nostalgic ice cream treats in the FLC parking lot after 10:30am Worship.
