Weekly Update for April 1, 2021
Dear Siblings in Christ,
It is Maundy Thursday, the day when Jesus gave his disciples a new “mandate” (maundatum
in Latin) to love others as Jesus has loved us. Throughout the day today there are communion services every 15 minutes in the Chapel, followed by an online service at 7:30 this evening. Then tomorrow, we will recognize Good Friday with an online service at noon.
This Easter Sunday, all three services (7am, 8:45am, and 11am) will be outdoors so that we can accommodate everyone. It will be cool for the early services. So, come prepared for the cool, but come ready to worship our resurrected Lord! We will celebrate communion at the 7:30pm Maundy Thursday online service tonight, and also at 8:45am and 11am on Easter. So, if you join us online, please have whatever communion elements you have on hand ready so that you can share in the sacrament with us.
This will indeed be a Holy Week and Easter we will always remember. Make a memory with us today, Friday, and Sunday, as we celebrate the gift of new life granted to us through our sharing in the cross and resurrection of Jesus!

This cross, full of spring flowers, represents the new life we receive through Christ's resurrection.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Winter Warmth Committee Seeks a Few Good Leaders
If you are passionate about helping children in our community, we ask that you consider serving on the Winter Warmth Committee. This year, Pat MacBeth will chair Winter Warmth, and she needs help in successfully planning and implementing this important mission of our church. If you are interested in serving in a leadership capacity with Winter Warmth, please email Pat or Leslie Lang.
Cards for Hospital Workers
As many of you know, healthcare workers are emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausted during this pandemic. The volunteer manager at SRHS has requested notes and cards to remind them that they are loved and appreciated. There will be a drop-off box for cards left outside the Tower Room doors at the church beginning March 4. You can bring cards at any time that is convenient for you. When WAF resumes, we will also plan to have hands-on opportunities to make/write cards onsite (Watch for more information). There are over 11,000 employees, and a note of encouragement could really brighten their day! This is a great project for all ages, so get the entire family involved!
