Next Week at FPC (September 10, 2021)
Dear Friends,
It is an exciting week ahead here at FPC! Sunday, we shift to our Fall Worship Schedule. Be sure to note the times (and locations!) of the Sunday services below. Children’s Worship also begins during the 11am service for children 4K-1st
grade.
During the 9:45am Sunday School hour, all adult classes will resume. Check out the Sunday School line-up and some modified locations in the links below. In particular, note that for now, the Emmaus Sunday School Class will meet in Fogartie Hall, and the new Abide Sunday School Class designed for young adults and parents of young children will meet in the Social Hall. Both of those moves are to ensure that there is enough room for everyone. During the Sunday School hour, the 4th graders and their parents, as well as the 5th
graders will meet in the Chapel, as the 4th graders receive the Bibles their families have carefully prepared for them.
During the week, a host of new Bible studies get started, and on Wednesday WAF returns with the pre-pandemic schedule, with children’s choirs, First Steps in Music, dinner (with indoor and outdoor options), and a wide range of programs for everyone after dinner. Prepayment is requested so that we don’t have to have a payment line. The link for that can be found at fpcspartanburg.org/waf.
In all of this, we are taking the necessary steps to keep everyone as safe as is reasonably possible, as we try to maintain the programming and community that nourishes our faith amid this resurgence of COVID. And we ask that you all do the same so that everyone feels safe and welcome here at FPC!

9:45am Sunday School for All Ages
11am Children’s Worship (4K-1st Grade)
We believe that children learn to worship by regularly attending church with their families. During the 11:00am Traditional Worship Service, all children are invited to the front of the Sanctuary for The Word for Children. Afterwards, children 4 years through 1st grade are welcome to attend Children's Worship in the Clark Building. During this time, they will learn basic components of worship like the offering, the Gloria Patri, and the Lord's Prayer. They will also have their own message. Children's Worship concludes with free play until families arrive to pick them up (after worship - Clark Building, Second Floor).

First Pres’ Peace & Justice Taskforce (PJT) invites you to learn more about racism. The Christian Century article, entitled 10 Myths White People Believe About Racism, is a good place to start. The PJT also invites you to join us in prayer for our neighbors represented in data compiled in Spartanburg’s Racial Equity Index, earnestly seeking God’s will for our community, and identifying actions you can take – as an individual, within your circles of influence, and as a member of the Body of Christ at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg – to transform the structures that perpetuate poverty and racism in our community, and with them, transform Spartanburg fully into God’s intentions. Want to get involved with the PJT? Reach out to Dawn Bingham or Jessalyn Story, or attend the next meeting on Friday, September 24th from 12:30-1:30pm in the Purnell Room.
