Next Week at FPC (September 17, 2021)
Dear Friends,
What an amazing week it has been! I always love this time of year when everything gets started again after the summer, even amid all the craziness of getting ready for it! And it is especially meaningful this year, even amid even more craziness than usual! Between Sunday School, Bible Studies throughout the week, WAF, children’s programs, youth programs, music programs, service opportunities, and so much more, there is truly something for everyone. If you can’t find your place to plug into the life of First Pres., visit Ministry Finder or just reach out to one of the pastors, and we will be glad to help you find a place where you can belong, grow, and serve!

Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Communications

9:45am Sunday School for All Ages
Welcome Class Begins This Sunday, September 19
We will be holding two Welcome Class sessions this fall. Classes will be held during the Sunday School hour (10:00-10:45am) in Room 2200. These sessions are a wonderful way to get acquainted with the Presbyterian church, the opportunities available at First Presbyterian, and to meet the staff. There is no pressure to join. We welcome non-members, members, and anyone seeking a church family to join us for a fun time of fellowship and learning together.
- Session 1: September 19, September 26, October 3, and October 10 (joining date)
- Session 2: October 24, October 31, November 7, and November 14 (joining date)
Please contact Molly Colbath, Welcome Class Committee, for more details.
11am Children’s Worship (4K-1st Grade)
During the 11:00am Traditional Worship Service, all children are invited to the front of the Sanctuary for The Word for Children. Afterwards, children 4 years through 1st grade are welcome to attend Children's Worship in the Clark Building. During this time, they will learn basic components of worship like the offering, the Gloria Patri, and the Lord's Prayer. They will also have their own message. Children's Worship concludes with free play until families arrive to pick them up (after worship - Clark Building, Second Floor).
5:00pm Sunday Night Youth Group
All youth are invited to join Rafe and Carrie for Sunday Night Youth Group in the FLC. Dinner will be provided!

The PJT also invites you to join us in prayer for our neighbors represented in data compiled in Spartanburg’s Racial Equity Index, earnestly seeking God’s will for our community, and identifying actions you can take – as an individual, within your circles of influence, and as a member of the Body of Christ at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg – to transform the structures that perpetuate poverty and racism in our community, and with them, transform Spartanburg fully into God’s intentions. Want to get involved with the PJT? Reach out to Dawn Bingham or Jessalyn Story, or attend the next meeting on Friday, September 24th from 12:30-1:30pm in the Purnell Room.
